ABOUT
US:
Birch Tree Resort offers our guest many conveniences
such as boat and motor rentals, protected boat harbor with new
docks and ramp, bait shop with live bait, freezer space, playground,
fire pit, fish cleaning house with electric and water, bbq grills,
picnic tables, and horseshoes. We currently have 9 cabins ranging
from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms.
ABOUT THE ISLAND:
Drummond Island is located just off the eastern tip of the Upper
Peninsula. The Island can be reached by a 24 hour car ferry service
from Detour. Drummond can be reached from all points of Michigan.
From the South, cross the Mackinac Bridge, northbound on I-75
for 15 miles, exit 359(M-134) 60 east, 40 miles to Detour. From
the west you can cross the Upper Peninsula on M-28 or US2 to
I-75 south and then east on M-134 to Detour. Drummond Island
is 136 square miles, (the largest U.S. Island in the Great Lakes)
and consists of 150 miles of shoreline. There are more than 40
inland lakes. The Island is surrounded by more than 50 outlying
Islands. Over 50% of the Island is state owned. Potagannissing
Bay offers some of the finest duck hunting and fishing. Inland
is excellent rifle and bow hunting for deer an bear.
The Island has grocery
stores, gas stations, a post office, churches, restaurants, gift
shops, a museum, a 24-hour car ferry service and an airport with
black top runway, fuel available. So come and enjoy yourself
on beautiful Drummond Island.
